  • Confirm that your address/road is within the service area.
  • Make sure your street address is posted on the road and you mark the piles to be chipped.
  • Pile locations MUST be accessible to a large box truck and chipper trailer. Extremely narrow or steep driveway may not be serviceable.
  • Piles MUST be located within 5 feet of chipper access location. Chipper access must be along an established road, preferably paved. The chipper will not be allowed on wet, unpaved roads.
  • Chips will be BLOWN BACK ONTO YOUR PROPERTY. Place your piles in an area where you want the chips and mark if necessary.
  • Piles MUST be hand stacked. Limbs can be no more than 8 inches in diameter. Please limit side branches to less than 4’.
  • Cut ends MUST face the same direction and point out toward the chipper location
  • Piles MUST NOT be larger than 8’ wide by 4’ in height by 10’ deep (longer branches are preferred).
  • No timber harvest debris, or vineyard and orchard waste.
  • No poison oak, ivy or blackberry vines. No broom or acacia with seed pods, or other invasive materials.
  • No piles of leaves, pine needles or yard clippings. Only woody brush/branches.
  • No non-compostable materials (painted or preserved lumber, trash, metal wire, etc.)
  • Loose dogs may prevent chipping. Inform us if you have dogs.
  • My Piles will NOT be behind a locked gate.

I understand that chips will be blown back on my property and will NOT be removed. I confirm that there is an area near the piles to blow the chips that is on my property and will not interfere with any public right of way or neighboring property.

I am the legal owner/occupier(s) and/or representative(s) of the property(ies) where services will be performed, and hereby agree and consent to terms outlined below by the Resource Conservation District of Santa Cruz County (RCD) for the purposes of this rebate program. I agree that:

  • RCD is not obligated to provide services under this program.
  • RCD funds are limited, and chipping services will be provided to landowners within the Community Wildfire Protection Plan (CWPP) that demonstrate the implementation of effective fuel load management.
  • I am responsible for any environmental compliance concerns or permits.
  • I understand that the services are solely for chipping.
  • I understand that the chipping company may not be able to provide services due to the condition of my road or access to my property. It is my responsibility to request a pre-inspection if I think access to my property may be limited.
  • I agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless the RCD and the funding agency, and their officers, agents, employees and volunteers from and against all damages, liability, losses, claims, suits, or actions of any kind and nature whatsoever, including attorneys’ fees (collectively, “Claims”) arising from or relating to the project, except for Claims caused by the negligence, errors, omissions or willful misconduct of the RCD.
