2026 El Niño Readiness

2026 El Niño Readiness

As Santa Cruz County heads into what forecasters are predicting could be a significant El Niño year, residents may face an increased risk of heavy rainfall, flooding, erosion, landslides, and storm-related property damage. Now is the time to prepare. The Resource Conservation District of Santa Cruz County offers a variety of free resources to help residents and landowners improve their storm readiness and build resilience before severe weather arrives. Through publications, workshops, webinars, educational videos, and on-site technical assistance, the RCD provides practical guidance to help reduce storm impacts, protect homes, infrastructure, and natural resources. If major storms do cause damage, the RCD also offers post-storm recovery support and technical assistance to help residents assess impacts and recover more effectively.
