San Mateo-Santa Cruz Community Wildfire Protection Plan

A Community Wildfire Protection Plan (CWPP) is a strategic plan that identifies fire risks facing communities and neighborhoods in the Wildland Urban Interface (WUI) and provides recommendations to reduce those risks. A CWPP may address issues such as wildfire response, hazard mitigation, community preparedness, or structure protection. The CWPP that we are developing now will determine strategies for reducing the risk wildfire poses to communities, critical watersheds, and natural resources.

The CWPP that is being developed for Santa Cruz and San Mateo counties is a partnership of CalFire, the Resource Conservation Districts of Santa Cruz and San Mateo Counties, and the US Fish and Wildlife Service.

See the CALFIRE website to download the first draft of the CWPP.
