OCEAN DAY POSTER CONTEST WINNER ANNOUNCED BY
THE RESOURCE CONSERVATION DISTRICT OF SANTA CRUZ COUNTY
Santa Cruz, California, June 9, 2009 Celebrate Oceans Day this month by applauding the winners of the poster contest : Meghan Pieratt (5th Grade), Kamila Young (3rd Grade), and Maya. The contest was sponsored by the RCDSCC, Cemex Int’l , and Save our Shores to encourage ocean conservation and awareness through art and education. Other efforts by the RCDSCC include Watershed Cruzin’ an educational program for K-12 funded by the National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration.
Winners receive a water awareness kit, stuffed animal, and gift certificate.
The RCDSCC is a public agency that believes in conserving, protecting, and restoring our counties unique natural resources. The health of the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary, and all oceans, are vital to the health of our children and the future of our planet.
