By enjoying a family day at the beach, fishing in the Monterey Bay, shopping for fresh local produce, or hiking at one of our regional open spaces, we share an appreciation for the natural resources our small coastal community has to offer. Our watersheds are working hard everyday to support not only farmers and ranchers, families and businesses, but also the abundant plants, animals and landscapes that make Santa Cruz such a special place to live. Participating in the protection, conservation and restoration of these resources is a wonderful way to give back. Here are just some of the ways you can help.
Join the RCD at one of our Community Restoration Days or volunteer with your favorite local non-profit. Check our workshops & events page for various volunteer opportunities or visit the web links section for a list of natural resource conservation groups and environmental and agriculture non-profit organizations.
Make a tax deductible donation to the RCD or another local non-profit organization that makes a difference in our community everyday. Visit our web links section for a list of local natural resource conservation groups and environmental and agricultural non-profit organizations.
Implement a conservation or restoration project on your property
The RCD and NRCS have been helping landowners and land mangers implement projects on private and public lands for over 30 years. Visit our Programs section to find out what opportunities are available. If you don't see a project that fits your situation, feel free to contact us to see how we can help.
Attend a meeting
An integral part of protecting our county's natural resources is understanding and participation in the processes that drive our community’s future. Why not attend an RCD Board of Directors meeting, a City Council or County Board of Supervisors meeting, a Blue Circle meeting, a local neighborhood meeting or another meeting of interest to you? It’s one of the great ways to meet your neighbors and to get involved.
