Arana Gulch Volunteer Planting Day (Sat. 28 Mar, 2015 9:00 am - 12:00 pm)

Arana Gulch Planting Day Final-HTWhat: The Resource Conservation District of Santa Cruz County, the City of Santa Cruz, the Santa Cruz Harbor, Hilltromper and the Watershed Stewards Project (a program of Americorps and the California Conservation Corps) are hosting a native plant installation event at Arana Gulch. These efforts support riparian habitat restoration and water course enhancement, in the Arana Gulch Watershed. This area is home to many important critters and plants that make our city and county one of the most ecologically diverse in the country. Please come help us improve and maintain our home’s beauty and richness!

When:The event will take place on Saturday March 28th, from 9am through 12pm. If you can’t make it for the whole thing, don’t worry. Every little bit helps! If we finish up the planting early, we can do some invasive plant removal too!

Where: We will be meeting at the southern end of the Arana Gulch Trail at 9 am. The most convenient parking is located at the Santa Cruz North Harbor parking lot. The parking lot is metered, so please remember to bring some coins if you decide to park there.

Shovels, gloves, coffee, and light snacks will be provided. However, if you have your own tools and gloves please bring them along. And as always, whenever we are working outside with tools we recommend you bring long pants, long sleeve shirts, sunscreen, close-toed shoes, and plenty of water. We want your help, but we also want everyone safe!

You can claim community service hours for this event. Please remember to bring your paperwork!

We look forward to working with you.
